Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (SFCTA)

The Architect Journey offers three tiers of certification designed to recognize and promote your skills and specializations. Salesforce Certified Architecture Specialists are recognized for their knowledge and expertise on particular domains within the Architect Academy. Salesforce Certified Domain Architects are recognized for their broad and deep architecture expertise across a number of domains. Salesforce Certified Technical Architects demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and capabilities to build and design high-performance technical solutions on the Force.com platform across all Architect domains.

The Salesforce Certified Technical Architect credential is designed for those with broad knowledge across multiple development platforms who draw on their skills to assess customer architecture to design secure, high-performance technical solutions on the Force.com platform.

Here are some examples of the concepts you should understand to pass the exam:

  • Design a technical architecture solution that may span multiple platforms and include integration and authentication across systems
  • Manage the development lifecycle to ensure the delivery of highly secure solutions that are optimized for performance and built to scale
  • Articulate design considerations, trade-offs, benefits, and recommendations for a technical architecture
About the Exam

There are three components that make up the Salesforce Certified Technical Architect exam. Successful completion of each component is required to move on to the next one. To earn the Salesforce Certified Technical Architect credential, you must successfully complete all three components in order:

Component 1: Self-Evaluation
  • 42 multiple-choice questions
  • 30 minutes allotted to complete the exam (online, non-proctored)
  • There is no registration fee
  • Prerequisite: Current status as a Salesforce Certified Force.com Developer or Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder
Component 2: Multiple-choice Exam
  • 60 multiple-choice questions
  • 120 minutes allotted to complete the exam (online, proctored)
  • 63% passing score
  • Registration fee is USD 500
  • Retake fee is USD 250
  • No hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the exam
Component 3: Review Board Presentation
  • Presentation and discussion of the architecture solution for a hypothetical scenario
  • 4 hours allotted to complete the presentation
  • Registration fee is USD 6000
  • Retake fee is USD 3000
  • No hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the presentation
