Course Overview

This instructor-led, 40-hour course provides NetBackup administrators, sales engineers, operators, implementation consultants, and support engineers with fundamental concepts, configuration, and management of NetBackup. It also teaches them how to utilize the NetBackup tools and interfaces, create and monitor backup and restore operations, and ensure that the data recovery objectives are met.

  • Perform manual and user-directed backups and restores using various NetBackup interfaces.
  • Provision storage and configure Media Server Deduplication Pool (MSDP) for optimized storage usage.
  • Implement backup and recovery for virtual environments such as VMware.
  • Configure Storage Lifecycle Policies (SLPs) and initiate jobs that utilize SLPs.
  • Protect and manage the NetBackup catalog to ensure recoverability of backup data.
  • Apply NetBackup WORM protection and performance optimization techniques.
  • Generate and interpret NetBackup reports for operational and compliance needs.
  • Initiate NetBackup upgrades using VxUpdate and identify resources for troubleshooting.
