The audience for this course is Linux administrators who are interested in administering eDirectory, Novell file and print services, and Novell DNS and DHCP on OES 11.

Kursziele

Course Description (used for TSPP Course Description field) The Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 Administration course (3119) helps students get the hands-on experience they need to administer core Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES) 11 services.

The course focuses on administration and maintenance of OES 11 SP1, on file and print services, and Novell DNS and DHCP.

Novell OES 11 includes all the network services that organizations traditionally expect from Novell. The services you have used for years on the NetWare platform are now available on the Linux platform.

Task students will be able to perform after taking this course include:

  • Installation of OES 11 SP1 on SLES 11 SP2 (64 bit)
  • Basic administration of eDirectory
  • Administration of Novell file and print services, Novell DNS and DHCP

Section 1: Install OES 11 SP1 on SLES 11 SP2 (64 bit)

  • Understand KVM and Virtual Machines
  • Prepare SLES 11 SP2 for OES 11 SP1

Section 2: Describe Novell eDirectory

  • Review Basic Novell eDirectory Concepts
  • Understand General eDirectory Design Guidlines
  • Understand Details of the Pyramid Tree Design
  • Understand Detail of the Flat Tree Design

Section 3: Perform Basic eDirectory Administration

  • Use iManager
  • Import and Export LDIF Files
  • Repair the eDirectory Tree

Section 4: Manage eDirectory Objects

  • Describe the Admin Object
  • Manage eDirectory Objects

Section 5: Install and Manage the Novell Client

  • Describe the Novell Client
  • Access eDirectory and Network Resources
  • Set Novell Client Propberties

Section 6: Manage NCP Volume Services

  • Create NCP Volumes
